So last time I checked the oil, I didn't replace the distick all the way and had been getting awful fumes in the cabin. So i opened it up with the engine running and saw a little smoke or steam coming out of the dipstick tube. I thought it was just from the fumes being so hot on the freezing day. It had been like that for about 3k miles, and sat in the freezing cold for about 6 days while I was in Florida.
Anything to be worried about? Car is fine now, no milky oil or anything.
Smoky Dipstick?

If the engine compartment isn't covered with oil I would say you have done no harm.

Sounds like the problem I now have with my '96 850. Positive crankcase presure from a clogged up PCV system. I have ordered a new system and will be replacing it soon. Search "PCV" for more posts on the subject.

That's good, I've heard the smoke is indicative of the PCV needing replacement.

Tim, that is unusual. There should be a slightly negative pressure at the dipstick -- assuming your rings are good. Does the smoke go away or get worse with higher engine RPM?

Anyone know if this kit will fit? It only lists up to 1998 models.
I absolutely cannot find a 99+ kit.

Unfortunately, I've not seen a '99 and newer PCV kit....I would buy every part here: http://www.eeuroparts.com/Main/PartsResults.aspx including at least 4 feet of the vacuum hose (for good measure) and replace one part at a time. Make sure and cleand the PTC valve thoroughly as well as the small ducts from the oil separator into the hose- if coked on, ream everything out until the passages are clear. While eveything is off of the manifold, clean the throttle body and as well.
