P0014 and faulty blinkers.

Post by Japedo »

Hello there folks, I have two seperate issues i would like to try figure out on my wife's car. It's a 2001 V70 XC with 126miles.

First is my direction lights, I keep haveing problems with the front direction lights. The bulbs are fine in both sides and they illuminate when switched on, but they flash quickly as if i had a burn't out bulb. And the car tells me I have a bulb out. It will work proberly once in a while when signaling left, but never right. Is there a relay that controls these bulbs that I should suspect?

Second problem is code P0014 engine timing over advanced. I removed my timing belt cover to confirm the timing is perfect. I also removed my cam shaft position solenoid checked it for sludge, cleaned it and put 12V power to it to confirm the valve was working. Also tested by blowing air through the ports that open up within the solenoid when it open's and closes. Im unsure of what to do next. And have been driving the car like this for months!! any advice would be great.

Unfortunately, I don't know a thing about the VVT (your second question), so if anyone figures this one out, please post. Another member of the site is also currently dealing with this.

About your blinkers- probably is a bulb out or corrosion in the bulb socket somewhere....blinkers (there are 6 bulbs) front, on front quarter panels and the rears. Sometimes on our '04 V70 this happens too and a good smack to the lens cover of the offending bulb turns it back on.

Well, I guess I could try hitting it. All six of the bulbs are flashing though just flashing fast. Isn't there usually a relay that controls these bulbs? Ive heard of blinker relays doing things like this on other vehicles.

As for the VV T issues hopefully someone has dealt with it before. Not that i'd really hope that upon anyone. lol
I refuse to bring it to my local dealer and the next closest is a 3 hr drive. THanks for the input.

You are right in that they flash fast if one bulb is out or not working...this is a stumper. I suppose a relay, but this is a new one on me. I'll try to look for that particular relay location on VADIS and post back after dinner (give me 45 minutes anyway).
