My passenger headlight was broken. I bought new glass only from FCP. I followed the directions found elsewhere on this site to remove the bumper and remove the assembly. So I got it off and removed all the old broken glass. There is a sealant of some sort holding in the old glass. Previous experience with glass replacements I've seen rubber gaskets - one did not come with the new glass nor did new sealant. The dealer says there is no gasket available (they didnt have the glass either - they said to replace the whole unit for $500).
So my question - Can I use some silcone sealant to set the glass? Should I press the new light into the somewhat pliable old sealant? Something else all together?
Thanks for any advice!

The dealer is correct, there is no gasket. It's made with bonding adhesive. The Volvo P/N is 1161767 (superseded from 1161377). I'd assume it's a higher-temp RTV, given that the glass needs primer (Volvo 1161515). I've attached instructions.Volvo s60 24t wrote:My passenger headlight was broken.
