Knocking, clunking noise on front drivers side wheel area.

I have a V70 2.4t. The drivers side front makes a clunking, knocking noise with every bump (like on the driveway). Is this a bad strut, or maybe just some bushing or something like that? I'm not too familiar with the car, so any tips on fixing it would be much appreciated.

1 Torn spring seat
2 Cracked strut plate
3 Control arm bushing
4 Sway bar end link

It usually will be one of those four things and
It would help to post your mileage

Thanks for the quick reply. It has about 140,000 mi. on it. I'll try to check the parts you listed later on today. Are there some things I can look for to identify what exactly it is?

OK, from looking at the car this afternoon, I think I have identified the problem as a worn strut mount. At least I think that's what it's called. Are there any online parts diagrams that I can look at to make sure I order parts correctly?

Unfortunately, there are no blow-up diagrams in VADIS (that I can find for your suspension) but it shouldn't be much different than the earlier S/V70's and 850's: http://www.eeuroparts.com/Main/DiagramP ... e02456.gif
