Plugged PVC + broken engine motor mount

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Plugged PVC + broken engine motor mount

Post by fisherman »

S80 2000 53,000 miles, all dealer serviced. Dealer says that the "plugged pvc system" needs to be serviced, cost $662.
No oil consumption or smoke. How can I tell if needed?
Also claims a broken engine motor mount ($225). Vehicle driven only gently by middle aged woman, no hard braking or acceleration, no rough roads. We live in Maine. Any thoughts? Thank you.

Usually it's the upper motor mount that breaks, completely visible to you. There is a hard bushing inside the mount that usually cracks. I have replaced them on my car in about an hour, with a hack saw blade and wrench set. The part is $20-30.
