Clunk in Front End on Acceleration
Clunk in Front End on Acceleration
I have a 2000 V70. 118,000 miles. When accelerating from a stop, there is a "clunk-clunk" sound that comes from somewhere in the front end. It is noticeable on moderate to hard acceleration. It only occurs when accelerating from a stop. It is most noticeable if you are backing up and shift to drive just before the car stops moving backwards and then accelerate. My wife is a pretty tame driver and she complains of the noise often. It does not make any sounds when turning or if you bounce the car up and down when parked. I assume CV joints would make more noise. Could it be a strut problem?
My 850 did the same thing and upper motor mount was SHOT! Replaced it and it went away. Suddenly acceleration is FUN again!
