V70 XC 2001 XM radio

Post by czeben »

I just recently purchased my very first Volvo, no issues yet...aside from a minor seat belt issue, (knock on wood). Pretty pleased so far but I have become so use to listening to XM (satellite radio), I would like to have it installed in this car. What are my options?

Thanks in advance!

Ben

IMHO, your best bet is to get a new deck that is satellite radio ready or equipped, there are some sweet Alpine, Pioneer and Kenwood options for this.

And of course you could get a parallel unit mounted with a seperate XM antenna etc.

You might want to wait a few months to see what happens to Sirius XM. They're facing bankruptcy.
Help keep MVS on the web -> click sponsors' links here on MVS when you buy from them.

Also -> Amazon link
. Click that when you go to buy something on Amazon and MVS gets a cut!

I think that issue has mostly gone away over the past week, but you never can tell. In any event, Chapter 11 would probably not have ended the service - just restructured Sirius/XM company debt.

As an aside, I'm abandoning XM after years of subscribing. After the merger they took away my electronica station, gutted Air America radio, and changed the jazz stations' formats to elevator jazz. I can barely stand to listen to it anymore.

2017 Alfa Romeo Giulia Q2 - Totaled in 2022. Not my fault.
2011 XC60 - sold
2000 V70XC - given to a friend, wish I still had it.
