CEL P0050 code

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

CEL P0050 code

Post by 537playing »

2001 S8o non-turbo @106,000 Miles

Error code pulled P0050 which is a Oxygen sensor. I'm thinking that a wire issue on it's harness. My best bet would be to replace the sensor as recommended at this mileage interval.

Any advice to the difficulty of this job?

The question is which sensor....I believe your car has two...one before the CAT and one after. The front one on other models are easy to get out and back in...though you'll need an 02 sensor removal tool (sort of looks like a hexagonal socket but an opening for the wire. I changed mine too at about the same miles as you're contemplating- it didn't need it but it was for good measure. But like you said, check your wiring. Also, any vacuum leaks can give these sensor false readings- good luck!

Thanks for the response.

I pulled the code via my scanner that I use on other cars. Does this code realy identify my problem on a Volvo? Or does the code apply to a different issue and/or sensor?

Looks to be right: P0050 H2OS Heater Circuit (Bank 2 Sensor 1)
I'd say your heating circuit is truly bad- this code isn't your typical code for a bad reading due to vacuum leaks, etc.
