I got one more for you Bill

I also own a 1990 740 Volvo. I have had this for a while. I went and replaced two vacuum hoses on this today. Started running better! The car, when idling will surge just a little bit, it's uneven. I went and checked the codes. This is what I got.

232 Adaptive lambda control too lean /rich when idling

Sounds similar to the other. Am I back at the oxygen sensors again? Any suggestions?

I was just going to congratulate you on a job well done then saw you've broken another car!!!

Congratulations on fixing the 940 for minimum outlay.

Code 2-3-2 on the 740 does not necessarily mean the oxygen sensor is gone. My book says to check the inlet manifold for leaks and to check the fuel pressure. It also goes on to give a check list which does need the CO2 reading to complete. I have been waiting to throw this list at someone and you qualify. High on the list you will see "check spark plugs replace if necessary". So this may not be too expensive to repair. (We don't have a smiley with crossed fingers).
