Center lights around HVAC controls

Great description of how to get to the instrument cluster lights at volvospeed.com, but how about the ones surrounding the HVAC controls? Mine have finally completely blacked out at 195,000. Anyone?
'06 XC90 2.5 158k miles
'01 V70 T5 (gone at 268k miles)
'01 XC70 (gone at 90k miles)
'93 850 GLT (gone at 194k miles)
And many a 240, 140 and even a 122 before those
