Help, Advice and DIY Tutorials on Volvo's P80 platform cars -- Volvo's 1990s "bread and butter" cars -- powered by the ubiquitous and durable Volvo inline 5-cylinder engine.
Thanks Tailor, I'm pinning this in the repair database.
I also have a write-up in pdf format from the Kansai guy who sells on eBay but his stuff is copyrighted and so I cannot post it here. A couple of things to add-
1. The circlip is a real bitch- make sure you have a very good set of the correct pliers. A cheap pr. will bend and break.
2. Get the stuff as clean as you can... the photo's still show a bunch of grime after the rebuild- you want to use the green scouring pad and really get the gunk off.
3. The turbine fins are very sharp and will cut you if you try to grab them- use a towel but be careful you don't bend them- they also will bend easily. The part that they bend easiest is when hammering w/ a rubber mallet to get the casing off (don't slip!).
Good luck with those who try to do a turbo rebuild!
