Hey there!!
I had the exact same problem with my 97 850T5 (146K). I floor it to pass cars, and as soon as you let go of the go-go pedal, puff!! huge smoke comes off of the exhaust. Was kind of fun to scare the drivers behind me, but I was pretty concerned nonetheless. I was told it's either the Turbo, valve seal, or the ring, but since it didn't smoke like chimney at any other occasions, I went ahead and replaced the PCV first. You just have to make sure that you clean out every single ports that PCV related pipes are attached to, specially the PTC, especially the small nipple. I also cleaned all the intercooler pipings, I found a whole lot of oil in there, and I actually found the most unlikely oil leak from the lower driver side intercooler/pipe connection point. There shouldn't be any oil in there!! But ever since the PCV replacement and cleaning of those pipings, I haven't had the same issue anymore. The Volvo mechanic who told me that it'd probably be extremely expensive to fix the issue totally fell off from my grace.

Cool Thank you!! yeah it does not happen on slow deceleration at all or when I rev it. got web site from JFO above that had a kit for $118.00.

Any hint on the breaks? They were squeaking pretty bad and I changed the pads, rotors were fine I put the de-squek on the pads before installing but after 3 days squeak is back?

If it's the rear brakes, you'll probably have to add the shims that have the square hole cut out...grease them and the back of the pads as well as the pins up really well...almost no way to over-do that. www.fcpgroton.com sells the shims.

The smoke seems to be a white-ish color, and still only on deceleration

. Is the pcv located under the air filter box and battery? Dindn't get a chiltons yet.

The PCV is located under the intake manifold. There is a good picture of it in this thread:
