Fuel /Air mixture gauge

How to go faster, stop quicker, and turn harder. Chips, exhaust, larger turbos, bigger/slotted/drilled rotors, high performance brake pads, manual boost controllers, performance shocks/struts/springs, airbox mods and more! Also discussion on HID and Xenon lights, aftermarket foglights and other exterior lighting.

Fuel /Air mixture gauge

Post by tailor »

I am looking for some understanding of the actual benefit of such a gauge in relation to the Volvo 850 Turbo.
If I understand correctly, all that can be gleaned is, either the mixture is too lean or too rich and cannot be adjusted in our cars anyway....because it is all done by the ECU. This may/or may not also tell us if the O2 ,Maf, injectors are up to standard or faulty.
I have heard that our vehicles run a little rich anyway, this is hearsay only ....I will deny, deny, deny if pressed
Have I over simplified it?
I had a look at the Apexi products and they seem to be solely for the Japanese made vehicles. These products allow some fine tuning to fuel.
Anybody have some experience with these or similar products and care to share the results.

IPD sells one- mostly those who use a manual boost control or have torqued up their ECU's need them. And yes, with the MBC you can adjust downward when when your air/fuel ratio is off.
