advice on broken tube on 240 ac rheostat switch

Well, while replacing the burnt out climate control bulbs, the copper tube broke off the top of my ac rheostat switch...the tube goes to a much larger pipe, maybe the expansion valve on the passenger floorboard. how in the world is this replaced? can i solder it? it's broken right at the top of the switch, near the nipple

Copper pipes can be soldered but this one is in an awkward position and will have to be soldered in situ.

I would certainly be giving it a go.
