89 740 GLE 16 Valve

Post by stacie »

the timing belt broke, we replaced it and it. Now it will not fire at all, with a couple of bent valves wouldn't it still start? and just run like crap? Or is there something else I should be looking for? Any input would be greatly appreciated.

There are a few items that can cause a no start, the main ones being that the belt is not installed correctly (valve timing incorrect) or the distributor is off (ignition timing incorrect) . But realistically if the belt on your 16V broke you probably have more than a couple of belt valves, probable more like 16 in which case the engine will not start.

Sorry to be the bearer of bad news.
