HMMMM

My compressor doesn't have a plug on top but it does have 2 plugs on the back, but your file shows only one.
What do you think those 2 plugs in the back are?

Do you have any files that match the compressor in the pictures?

So what would you do now? I'm sure the compressor has mineral oil in it which needs to be flushed out & replaced with PAG oil.

Now I am seeing AC compressors everywhere. I have checked all of my files for Kiki, Delco, Sanden, York, Seiko-Seiki and Zexel and they all show the filler on, or near, the top.

However, I found this site: http://www.discountacparts.com/addtocar ... -01200.asp and there is no filler on 2 of the pictures.

I think, if were in your position, I would be sending a query to that company asking where the filler is on those shown without one. They may reply if they think you are going to buy one!

That's a good idea. Thanks for keeping up on this for me.

I did a search for Seltec's website and came up with something interesting at http://www.rparts.com/Catalog/Major_Com ... kk/dkk.asp:
Diesel Kiki compressors are delivered with PAG (polyalkaline glycol) oil. PAG oil is compatible with all common refrigerants including R-12 and R-134a. No flushing is required.

I'll let you know what my inquiries produce concerning the fill port.

From what little is out there it appears plug #1 in my picture, or the one on the left, is a pressure release valve.
The other one is a fill/drain plug.

Does the oil stay in the compressor or does it flow with the refrigerant?

Update:

I took out the old compressor & drained it out. Got a lot of oil out. Didn't look too bad, didn't have any metalic particles in it. But it did look kind of watery and had a LOT of dye in it.
The compressor was definitely seized. I'm going to do an autopsy on it when I get a chance.

So I put 4.23oz of oil in the new one and put it in. I'm going to flush it & charge it in the future. For now just needed the power steering to work.

Sorry I didn't answer your previous question, Danny, but yesterday was a 'migraine' day and the computer was never switched on.

The oil would appear to circulate with the refrigerant but only lubricates the compressor.

I came across this site whilst looking for help. It is very interesting and has a good FAQ section.

Don't forget to post the final instalment.
