850 interior bulbs

Post by neptuneboat01 »

Does anyone know the wattage, volts and T size of the miniature lights that are in all the rocker switches in the 850's? The dealer expects one to replace the entire switch, but I know how to remove everything to get to the bulbs and buying the bulbs alone has got to be cheaper. What about any size info. on the other "Special Bulbs" (8B 8A 7B) Volvo wants a fortune to buy? Thanks for any help!

I have been replaced that little bulbs in switches a few years ago.I don't know about their marks but i know that they are making in 6 and 12watts.
I got them from my friend who is electrician.
Take one out and visit some stores with car electric equipment, just to compare sizes and they must have them!Note that they must be same size, bigger won't fit. :!: I think that stores who installs aftermarket alarm systems have them, because my friend does.
It doesn't matter if they are 6w or 12w as long they are 12Volts!

Assuming that you actually have removable bulbs in your '95 - it was a split year in that regard - the lamps have a proprietary design. I have replaced them by buying the Radio Shack 272-1092 lamps and just cut the old lamps out of the base and then I soldered the new ones in. They are expensive from the stealership for the plug in replacements.

If you have the old style lamps you need to take the entire switch apart and solder the lamps (the Radio Shack lamps work fine) back in. The switch falls apart as you take it apart so you need to be clever to get it back together.

All the switches in your dash will pop out with a thin flat head screw driver. I got replacements from http://www.eeroparts.com. They have those bulbs in stock and if you buy anything over 49.00 its free shipping. Check it out. Take out the switches and then the bulbs and go shopping.

Thanks so much for the help! The 12 volt detail and the line to Radio Shack did the trick. I was able to replace seven switch bulbs for about $3.50, instead of $8.00 a piece from ipdusa or eeuroparts. No soldering involved with these switches. Thanks again.

I just recently stopped by a Oreillys auto parts and saw that they have some of the bulbs your looking for. Other than that the dealer wants like 7-15 buck a peice for them.
