S80 2001 Radiator Leak

Post by Margie85 »

Hi Everyone,

Is there a way to repair a radiator leak in a 2001 S80 Volvo Sedan without replacing the radiator? The radiator hose has been replaced and the radiator has an aluminum core with plastic edges.

Years ago there was a product that could be used inside radiators to stop a leak that was called ''Stop Leak''. Is there a product such as this on the market today that could work?

Has anyone ever patched a radiator with success? The garage said the cost of a new radiator is $600 and I want to avoid that expense if at all possible.

Any help is greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Margie

Stop Leak, and another called Ceelit, are still available in the UK. However, its usefulness is dictated by the size of the leak. Too big will not work.

Patching a radiator is not a viable proposition due to the pressure inside.

IPD and FCP Groton, links at the top of the forum, have radiators for half the dealer's price.
