240 GL 1984 no brake lights

HI,

I haven't seen this in my searches so far but if anyone could give me a little direction......I just lost my brake lights (both sides, bulbs ohm out) and in the process I gained door chime sounding whenever I press on the brake pedal. My first thought was the brake light switch but it's working in some form as it's triggering the door chime, but I imagine still could be bad.
