Can't enter code for Radio.

Post by Labolas »

We just had the car in for maintenance and when we got it back couldn't change the radio station, put in a tape and it wouldn't eject. Removed fuse 7,15&32 and put them back in and it asked for code, have the code but it won't let me enter it... removed fuse 15 again and it let me enter the code and seemed to work fine, however the next day it happened again and now I can't enter the code at all. It just displays cODE on the display no matter what button I press nothing happens. I removed the neg terminal to try to reset everything and still same problem.

Any suggestions?

The radios have a fail safe mode, if the right code is not entered correctly in three tries it will lock up the radio for a couple hours. After a couple of hours the radio will reset and go to the

in addition i believe (though not positive) that u have to wait for the 2 or 3 hours with the power 'on' ...so turn key to accessory with radio power on and check back in a bit. Or take a big trip...course it might be a boring trip without radio but i digress. (sorry) I'm no expert at all but it sounds like u might be getting intermittent power to the radio causing it to reset. When u had it in for maintenance what was done(electrical?) If so i would definitely have a word with person who performed maintenance. if nothing else you can backtrack what has changed from the time it worked pre-maint to now.

While driving to work, I tried entering the code and ta-da it worked... It's been working for 2 days so I'm keeping my fingers crossed. Volvo dealer said it was just coincidence that the radio stopped working after servicing (caliper replaced - power wasn't turned off) and suggested I buy a new radio.

Strangest thing about it, though. I couldn't get a response by pushing any button...Couldn't insert a tape. No response...Even after 2 hours with key in and powered on.

Well, it's working now so we're slowly looking for a replacement before it does die.

Thanks for your suggestions
