Power steering pump replacement (1995 960)

Post by drmud »

I am having difficultly removing the pulley from the pump. I tried using a common puller but that doesn't do it. Is there a nut inside the hub or do I have to screw a bolt into those internal threads? Typically I have found the 960 easy to work on once I discover the "trick".

Welcome to Matthew's Volvo Site.

Unfortunately I only have instructions for removing the pulley for the 940 but, having checked several references, they seem to use the same pump with a different pulley (the belts are different).

There is a special Volvo tool, there's a surprise.

There is no picture of the tool #999 5443. The procedure may be the same for the 960 but I give no warranty.

Bill.

Hey Bill,
Thanks. I can see how to remove the pulley with my standard puller and I can see how to press the pulley back on. The identification of the saginaw 999 5444 tool led me to the website that has very clear pictures. Thanks again.
Eric :)
