battery terminal

is there a positive battery terminal under the hood of a 99 s80?
i know the 00+ has one but could not see one where it is in that year.

not trying to jumpstart it but i do know how to do that and where to find the battery, thanks for the picture.

i know on the 00+ it is behind the fuse box on the drivers side of the engine compartment. it is not there on the 99.

i was just wondering if it had one and where it was to save running a wire all the way from the trunk.

That diagram is for a 1999. I wonder if your car has been modified?

What is it you're trying to do?

I'm not familiar with your car. Is your fusebox under the hood?
If you need a power wire for an accessory, there may be a spare fuse socket you can get it from, or use an existing one as long as the load is not too high (or it's not a critical circuit, like one of the computers...).

Another point for power is the cigaret lighter socket, if your car has one. Again, be careful of the load. If you want to use it for something like a phone charger, you might want to add a fuse or change the one in the fusebox. this circuit will pull a lot of power, and may ruin what you're plugging in before it goes.

i am having headlight problems.
bought a hid kit, for some reason it does not like to work from the power to the headlights.
i have a relay to wire them up with so that i can switch them on but need to wire it in to the battery.

Try reversing polarity on the wires to your HID kit. That was what was wrong with mine on my S70.

tried that, only way that i could get them to come on was to unplug and plug back in a plug on the ballast.
i took them off the car and hooked them up to a 12v battery and they came on straight away.
i have what looks like battery wires in the location that the pic shows but they are black wires and there is no cap over them

Is it just your lights not coming on, is it the relay and the lights?

If it's the relay, check the ground wire, sometimes a poor ground or loose wire can cause similar problems.

Also, if you have a voltmeter or a spare 12v bulb, you can check those black wires to a good ground to see if they're power or return lines.

managed to get lights hooked up.
the wires that i found were the battery terminal but i guess the cover has been lost.
