1999 s80 keyless entry

Just bought 1999 s80 but the owner somehow lost the keyless remote. I just talked to local volvo and they are asking about $300.00 for two(2) remotes the software and the downloading of info. My question is this, can I purchase remotes aftermarket and can they be loaded with info to work? please help.....

I think you will find that you can get remotes on Ebay for cheap, but that when you take them to the dealer for programming the dealer will probably tell you that they can't reprogram them, so you'll wind up having to buy them there anyway. $300 for two is about typical.

that is what happened to me, when i bought my car, the previous owner gave me a remote which he bought from ebay. i brought it to the dealer but they said exactly what you have written so i ended up paying 250 for 1 remote and programming.

On a '99, the dealer can program the eBay key Fob as long as it's compatible- they just don't want to do it. Best to tell them that your key fob quit working and don't mention eBay. I had that experience with my S70 and programming was like $40.
