[1997 Volvo S70 Keyless Entry System]

Post by diogoribeiro »

Hey guys,
I've been hanging around on this forum for ages but never really posted something, till now... Let me say this forum has been very usefull and i love it.
First, let me introduce my car : Its a 97 Volvo S70 2.0 Turbo that i got as my first car almost 5 years ago. After some thinking i decided to get it back to perfect condition. One thing i miss alot is being able to remotely open/close the car cause it came with no remotes or alarm. I've been searching around the internet and if im not wrong i need 3 things: The receiver module that goes on top of the odometer , the remote and a control module (near the internal fuses/relays). I bought a control unit that came from a Volvo S70 with alarm and the receiving module (no remotes , though). Since the receiving module is still on the post office i tried to change my control module for the one i bought. Nothing new untill i decided to turn on the car. Although it starts, it imediatly shuts down after 1 or 2 seconds. I guess it must be something related to the imobilizer. So, im facing a dilema, what am i missing ? Maybe when the receiving module and the remote arrives , the dealer can "reprogram" all the parts. Is it everything i need? I checked on Vida and i think it is.
Can anybody help me ?

Thank you,
Diogo Ribeiro

It can be re-programmed at a dealer, but a much, much cheaper solution is to install an aftermarket alarm system at some alarm shop.

Hi,
Thank you for the answer. Well, already considered that but I want to stick as genuine as possible.
Maybe I can get a cool deal at the dealer .
