2001 V70 air conditoning turns on by itself

when the car is turned off and no one in the car!
if i am around i have to turn the ignition key on and then off to make it turn off.
what is up with my car? Is it haunted?

This could happen right after you drive it (fan coming on) to clear out any condensation in the system...which helps save your evaporator (something that wasn't available on the older models). If it's just coming on at random then we have a problem.

MIJ nailed it. It is to prevent mold build up and general rot of the system. As he stated you should only notice this on days you ran the system otherwise it needs to be looked at.
