need help with code p0011

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

Post by gemuth »

My check engine light has been on since i finished my valve job.The car runs fine but the scanner showes me a p0011 code.It says camshaft position actuator a- bank 1 timing over-advance.Im thinking its the intake cam because thats the one with the variable timing. So i guess i back that cam ccw one tooth ?

That's a tough one as I don't have any experience (yet) with VVT. But it certainly does indicated that it could be a tooth advanced. It could also be that the VVT system is at least partially clogged. Check your timing marks first before doing anything... Then, you could take the top off of it (at the rear corner of your engine closest to the Timing belt) to see about that and clean the corridors out- I believe if you do this, you may need a new gasket there. Oh, another thought is to just disconnect the battery for several minutes- could be the ECU needs to adapt to a new setting w/ your timing belt change (make sure your key is in position II when you hook the negative side of your battery back up).
