2004 XC90 Getting error code P0011

Post by Androck1579 »

While on the way to work the other day I a warning came up STOP ENGINE OIL PRESSURE LOW STOP ENGINE. I checker the oil and it wass kind of low so I topped it off. After doing so, the warning went off then the check engine light came on. I borrowed a ODB11 from one of my friends and attached it to the port it came up with Error P0011 Cam shaft position, Actuator A- Bank 1 and Timing Over-Advan. I just wanted to know if there was anything that I could do to solve this problem. If anyone has run into this problem and can help me out that would be great. Thank you

First off, don't run the engine, this warning says the cam and crank positions are not within parameters. presently, it may run, but it may have skipped a tooth on your timing belt.

Get it checked immediately!!

Otherwise you run the risk of bending all your valves, and rebuilding the top end of the motor.
If things are great, maybe your cam position sensor is failing, but the above warning is what it is there for. Most likely your timing belt and corresponding parts need replacement. How many miles? what history etc? Let us know how you fare.
Current Volvos:
1998 V70 T5, 112k sat 5 years, still in mechanical coma (finally at the top of the pile )
2004 XC90 T6 AWD: 186k, 60 on transaxle ( traded in )
1998 POS70 N/A: DD/training aid, 236k but really about 240k, I think...ABS module( passed on to son who sold it)
