Do you mean the wrong routing? Or the part about you can't get the bung for the PTC connection at the Accordion hose without buying the entire accordion hose (post above yours)?
I can check on the PCV routing for your car if you want me to- thank it's the same (but could be wrong).

hello,

sorry MIJ I forgot to state it.. yes I mean the routing.. Lee told me before that ptc doesnt exist in N/A models. I ask this because about a week ago my complete engine block(850 N/A 95 engine model no is B5204S 2.0 liter model) was replaced by the dealer. I want the new engine to be trouble free and want it to last for many long years and I intend to use the car for many more years.I wasnt in the dealer when the engine was installed back so I couldnt see how they installed the engine block. but the oil seperator came new with the engine.

I have one more question dealer has installed full synthetic oil in the new engine 5w-30 but isnt this oil too thin for a new engine? isnt it better to use a mineral oil in a new engine?

sorry for the long message..

thanks

No problem...and you are right...no PTC on the non-turbo's...but make sure where it mates with the accordion hose to be clear. I have to get used to thinking that these are different- been spreading false info about this for years and need to break bad habits here. Btw, the 5W-30 they put in is PERFECT! Great choice! This is what I use in the winter and 10W30 in the summer time.

In regards to the oil separator, always the outlet that is closest to the block goes up to the top of the engine. Here is the diagram for the non-turbo which is correct!:

Here is a diagram for the turbo from FCPG who got it from VADIS
WHICH IS STILL WRONG and the CAUSE OF THE CONFUSION to begin with:

Actually both of these drawings are off a bit. The closest hose to the engine block (that goes up to the top of the engine) should be over more towards the passenger side while the connector for the hose that goes to the intake should be on the other side of the oil separator, more towards the battery side.

Here are actual picture of the turbo oil separators:
First, the one for the non-turbo:

Now, the one for the turbo:

Both look the same but have different part numbers.

No problem....but yours is an N/A...it was for the turbo models that there was incorrect information...you should be okay. When I found out on my turbo S70 that I may have routed mine wrong I was able to "peek" in between the openings at an angle from above w/ a strong flashlight. I had to squint and move my head around a lot but finally I was able to see the connection for the hose to the top of the engine and I was routed correctly...no need to take the manifold off to check this, although it's a bit of a challenge.

Just some more info on the actual oil separator part numbers:
(Be aware that most sites have most hose routings correct now EXCEPT for the '98 model)

850 Non-Turbo is part #9146756 for all.
850 Turbo (through engine #330413), part #9146756
850 Turbo (from engine #330414 on), part #1271988

C/V/S/XC70 ('98-'00 are all the same parts, turbo or not)
Non-Turbo is part #1271988
Turbo is part #1271988

hello Mij,

I have been checking the situation in my car and everything appears to be fine.this was a question in my mind and many thanks for making it possible to clear it.

I will be glad if I complete the new engine's break in trouble free.I was worried about the 5w-30 oil because I believed the full synthetic oil in a new engine would do damage cause the engine is already new.. its been a week now and everything seems fine..

thanks again

I have smoke blowing out the dipstick hole and have had for the entire time I've owned the car, including my PCV system complete replacement, including pipes/hoses. My 1994 model is a bit different than pictured above.
Only turbos have the PTC.
If you PCV still has the plastic screen in it, throw it away. Also make sure the small hose from the PCV is clear and not filled with crud. The dipstick should never smoke.
