Welcome to MVS,

If you can post the code numbers it will help us to help you solve your problems.

The codes from the OBD-1 socket (A-2) under your hood are the most helpful. Here is how to read them:

You don't need Advance Auto Parts, only your own finger to push the button and a pen and paper to write down the codes that it flashes back. See the link I posted.

1-2-1 = MAF sensor signal.

1-4-3 = Front knock sensor signal.

2-3-1 = Long term fuel trim - partial load.

2-4-1 = EGR flow malfunction.

4-3-3 = Rear knock sensor malfunction.

The MAF sensor code will lead to the fuel trim code. With the knock sensor codes thrown into the mix start by check the ground leads on the block.

The EGR flow code is due to the hole above the EGR valve on the intake manifold being plugged up with carbon deposits. You will need a new EGR valve gasket and a new intake manifold gasket to fix it. If you have not yet serviced the PCV this is a dandy time to do that as well since about 80% of the work involved in that job is removing the intake manifold.

I received the 1-4-3 code on my 850 and it ended up being a bad set of spark plugs. I had the expensive 15 dollar a plug ones but the car did not like them. When back to the OEM ones and she has been happy ever since.

Thanks alot Lee. What is the PCV and how do i go bout servicing that. If i need to change both the front and rear knock sensors how much do you think a job like that would cost? And in your opinion just from seeing theses codes do you think i would have to change them? Thanks again
