Electric Seats

Help needed with my son's S-70 T-5 electrical seats. The back portion of the seat does not go up nor down. All other parts of the seat work fine except the back of the seat.

There is a drive cable in the back of the seat that needs to be replaced. The leather has to be removed from the seat back in order to access the cable.

There is a drive cable in the back of the seat that needs to be replaced. The leather has to be removed from the seat back in order to access the cable. It is also possible that the switch is bad. You will be able to tell by listening for the motor while operating the switch. If you don't hear the motor, you probably need a switch.

Both seats in my '94 850 are stuck, but I can hear the motor on both sides. Is it still the cable in those cases, or would it be more likely to be a gearbox problem? Can you hear the motor if the cable needs replacement?

thanks for any advice!!!

you need the cable. check the previous post with the link to Volvospeed. it's a PITA, but if you need the back to work, it's worth the effort. luckily mine's stuck in a good spot!
