S80 1999 Help with error codes and other things...

Everything on the Volvo S80. Sometimes called an "executive car", the S80 was Volvo's top-of-the-line passenger car. P2 platform.

S80 1999 Help with error codes and other things...

Post by harrr0 »

Ok, I've already done my research and read up on a lot of things that could possibly go wrong with my car. I have a 1999 S80 2.9L w/ no turbo.

Scrolling through the LCD thing, and I get the following messages:

SRS SERVICE REQUIRED
ABS SERVICE REQUIRED
STC SERVICE REQUIRED
(There are more, but I know what the others are.)

Are these messages directly related to my ABS control unit going bad? When my speedo drops to 0 when moving, does it also go into limp mode? Because at times my car would go into limp mode only when the brake light comes up.

I've already looked into sending my unit out to Vicrocha to have the unit rebuilt. But I want to know if those messages pertain to the ABS unit.

Thanks.

The SRS should not pertain to the ABS system. You should take the car into a Volvo dealer asap to get at least that portion fixed. Your SRS is non-functional when that light is on, meaning your airbags and seatbelt pretensioners will not fire if you get in an accident.

I see, I should really get that checked out....

What about the other things? Is limp mode linked to the ABS? Or the ETM?
