MIJ....how would you rate this trap and hose replacement as compared to the t-belt, tensioner, cam seals etc?? Harder or just longer? I am more inclined to replace everything pcv related.

If you can do a timing belt, you can do an oil trap. You are pulling the intake and repaling the oil trap and piping. Clean the entire intake and the throttle body componenets(non electric ones )while you are there. If your cam seal was compromised I would replace it anyway. You will need to make up a tool out of angle iron and two flat pieces of metal the size of busines cards so you can lock the cams in place after removing the cam. I have done it with a standard cam lock tool (gear end)but its a little tricky.

It's no harder- just takes longer- the good part is, there's no "finger's crossed, I hope I have it right moment" like a timing belt... the advice I can give you is to get an OEM intake manifold gasket and to get some long extensions on your socket set as well as 1/4 inch ratchet and some extensions and swivel end for 10 and 12mm for it (and the 3/8 inch sockets. Crows feet for 10 and 12mm are also helpful.. and box end wrench with ratcheting turning ability is also helpful in the same size (long a handle as possible to reach up above the intake is a must). It's all about lining up all the right tools before you start- ask me how I know! the OEM gasket is important- I had to do the job over on my 850 because the 3rd party gasket i used slipped down and caused a leak at the manifold- Anyway, allow yourself the better part of a day if you've never done this. Good luck, take pictures and let us know how things go. Btw, I would recommend replacing old rubber vacuum hoses that may not be PCV related as you work on things- silicone hoses from www.stylinmotors.com are are great investment and actually cheaper than buying the rubber ones (by the meter) from the dealer... the 7mm and 10mm hoses are the ones you'll use the most, if memory serves me right.
