v40 engine mounts

Hi all,

could somone with a haynes manual or previouse experience tell me where to start looking for the engine mounts on the v40

Ive got a quietish "clack" sound

a) when i start the engine
b) when i change gear
c) engine break/accellerate at low speed

i think that one of them is on its way out, but with a quick look-see i can only see the one at the top near the waterbottle.

that one seems ok, & i'd like to check the others before i procede any furthur.

do i have to take the cover off from the underside of the engine to see them

any help much appreciated,

interesting I had the engine mounts go too ! 3 of them. similar symptoms to yours and the steering would vibrate like a diesel truck at the lights !!!

I had a mech do mine.
the haynes manual does give you the details how to do it.
The mounts arent cheap

ps . are you the one replying to my post on "stalls in the heat" ?

havnt got the vibration, probably in the early stages

stuck a vid cammera underneath jut to look at what the others were doing

& its the bottom rear mount thats split, thus puttign toomuch pressure on the others

this ones only 25 quid, so thats cheered me up anyhow.

glad i didnt buy the top one only to find it made no difference

Could be anything! I'v had to replace engine mounts, strut bushings, sway bar bushing. Along with turbo seals, turbo, cam sensor, cam seal, temp sensor, brake rotors, side impact sensor and controller. All within 3 months. What a great Car!!!!!! Anybody want to buy a V40?
