V70 99 intermittent injector operation

Post by vovofixer »

I have a 99 V 70 , that has an intermittent injector shut-down. Shut down occurs immediately at start-up. The engine will run on only three cylinders and will set internal ETM fault codes. The throttle module is new- replaced recently for hunting idle and surge on acceleration. The ECU software numbers are ; 9202214 A and 31211057 AA, the ETM diag port # is 30785387 AB and software # 9471552A and 30785866AA. The main power bus to the fuse box is new with a 17mV drop while running. The Battery cable has a max voltage drop of 28mV while cranking, the alternator output is 100A max with a very stable 13.85 volts at idle under normal operating conditions. The injectors are not being triggered at all when this occurs. You can shut the car off and at times it will start and run like new. if the car starts and runs properly at idle, it will run normally through-out the operating range. The problem has to occur during start-up because it will not occur after it has started and idled normally. I do not believe it to be an ignition problem (eg. faulty coils) as it has no injector trigger from the start, not like it recognized misfire and then shut the injector off. The erratic nature of this thing is making me a little nuts...Any thoughts?

Additionally, Trans has never been out of car, has just under 100k miles. The car starts fine just that when it has a problem it will drop cylinders 2 and 5 and sometimes drop 1 .No misfire faults are ever set, checked with generic OBDll scanner and checked I/M monitors, interestingly it showed over half the systems this car as n/a, including misfire monitor, O2 monitor and heater and catalyst monitors may be headed for an ECM. Car has never been in any collisions and never been under water. Was running normally until early last week.Frustrating part is it will suddenly fire up and run normally for a day or two and just as suddenly revert back to being a problem.

Any ideas?

Sounds like the mechanical part of the ignition switch...try wiggling your keys to see if it makes a difference. This is not uncommon on our cars.
