I have a mysterious leak on the metal tube below the exhaust manifold, well I see a drop of oil rolling from the drivers side over to the passenger side along this tube that ties into a cooling line to the turbo. The metal tube is about 3/4 inches in diameter. I'm guessing oil is dripping down onto it. It is not coming from the top of the engine that sometimes pools when you need an oil cap gasket or a pcv replacement. I also have an oil leak at the transmission on the driver's side where the drive shaft goes into the tranny... but it is oil not tranny fluid. Any help would be appreciated. I'm viewing the car from the bottom on a lift.

Could be the turbo oil return line or (let's hope not) the rear main seal.

Ruled out the the return line when I had it on the lift running for over an hour. I just rebuilt the turbo 2 weeks ago an replaced the green o-ring. Sorry I could not take pictures but the PDFs you sent were good enough.
Back on subject now: I had oil coming from above the tranny and down to the flywheel opening and also oil inside the hole where the axle goes into the tranny.??????

If it's from above the tranny, it could be your rear camshaft seal...it's pretty hard to see from above, but with a strong flashlight you could tell if it was leaking there or not.

That's were I went after my last post and man this thing was leaking like crazy. The old seal was hard and brittle. I just did the PCV flame trap thing a year and a couple of months ago. Do you think these things clog that fast?
Thanks for your help you were spot on!

These things just get old and start to leak...I put a thin layer of RTV on my new seal when I installed it when I had to change mine out about a year ago.

Do you happen to have a diagram in Vadis or some other source to where all the vacuum lines come from and hook up to the turbo. That camshaft seal fixed 1 leak but I'm getting a large amount of oil in the intake of my turbo. After the turbo rebuild I might have hooked the wrong hose/tube to the wrong fitting. My daughters need this car ASAP to get back to school 5 hours away. This is a big leak because it's getting past the hose clamp of the intake on the turbo and dripping down onto the tranny and making a mess on the underside of the car, all the way back to the rear bumper.

Thanks Vegas, you wouldn't happen to have another diagram showing where hose #20 hooks into. It's the only one that is unaccounted for. Your diagram showed me that I had hoses 17 and 19 hooked up incorrectly.

Unfortunately the diagrams that I have don't show both ends of everything. I think that the triangular item on the back of the turbocharger that hose #20 is hooked to is the Compressor Bypass Valve that directs compressed air from the output side of the compressor wheel back to the input side when you're under boost and let off the gas. This is to prevent a pressure shock to the compressor blades. If so, then I think that hose #20 should be connected to the vacuum tree on the intake manifold, shown circled in red in the diagram below:Trilarry wrote:Thanks Vegas, you wouldn't happen to have another diagram showing where hose #20 hooks into.
