I have a 1995 940 turbo that has begun shaking very hard from the rear, and haven't the slightest idea what it could be.
It almost feels as if the trunk is literally going to fall to the ground.
Earlier that day, I noticed a noise in the trunk area (when stopping or accellerating), and thought it was my son's equipment bag in the trunk (a "clunk" sound). Now I can't accelerate at all in drive without the shaking. There is no shaking when in park or idle.
If anyone has a suggestion or advice with what the problem could be, I would greatly appreciate it! I want to have some idea of what is going on before I take it to a mechanic.
Thanks again!!
940 is shaking as if the trunk is about to fall out...

You could have a wheel out of balance or bent or a bad tire. Did you hit anything recently? I'd take it to a tire shop right away and have the wheels checked. While they have it on the lift they can take a look to see if anything obvious is wrong with the suspension. In any case, don't drive it too far (or very fast) with that vibration.

Hey, I wanted to drop back in and let you know what happened...
I read your response regarding the suspension, and kept that in mind, while I called to make towing arrangements with the repair shop.
Luckily, my "better half" came home early, and was able to fix the issue himself. As it turned out, I somehow lost a bolt from a bar that is located under the trunk (runs across - from left to right). They came apart and was causing the shaking.
Thanks again for your suggestion!!
