windshield wipers / squirters stay on 850 1995

Hello,
Yesterday i finished replacing the PCV system, oil seperator and lines and the car runs well.

Today when i headed out i ran the window squirter a couple of times in a row to clean off the pollen thjat had acumulated. When i let off i realised that both the squirter and wipers were still going. I tried moving the lever to different positions with no change. I shut the car off and restarted with no change, so i removed the fuse to shut it off.

Any suggestions? Could i have hooked up something wrong in the many connections that i touched removing the intake manifold? It doesnt seem that i would have touched anything related to the washer / squirter system and this may just be a coincidance. Where is the ww relay?

There's a wire running to the washer fluid pump, which is in the tank down inside the front fender. Maybe you disturbed that wire when you worked on the intake. It sounds like the relay is stuck/welded shut. Maybe you created a short in one of the wires. I'd take the relay out and tap it a few times, then reinstall it. Check over the wiring in the area you were working, then try the wipers again and see what happens.

is this relay inside the pasenger compartment above the drivers feet? I was also thinking that the relay had welded in the on position after repeted windshield squirts.

No. Look on the backside (closest to the firewall) of the fuse/relay box in the engine compartment.

ok i will check there, i tried to remove the fuse & 101-108 level relay block but i didnt think to look behind them. i will check in the morning as it is getting dark here.

i just tried to remove the fuse / relay block, i could easilly move it about 1" upwards but it wouldnt come out. are there any other retainers? I have removed all visable screws, either 4 or 6 i think, but it wont remove. Am I missing something? The 2oo level of relays are directly under the first level of relays? Are they facing down under them or is there a second relay board facing up under the first level that includes the fuse block?

I believe those relays are on the back side of the fuse box in your car.

Here are some VADIS directions on how to remove it. Maybe OzarkLee, MIJ, or Billofdurham will jump in here with some tips. I think there's a connector at the bottom of the box, also. I would try to just get at the relays without removing the box.

i got the relay panel up and removed the relay for the windshield wipers, and the headlight wipers and squirter are still running.

I disconected the wire plug to the washer / wiper switch on the steering column and headlight wipers and the squirter are still running. it seems no power should go to anything with the switch disconnected.

Is there a seperate relay for the headlight wipers? I unpluged the squirter pump and it stopped (i also believe i broke the side hose connection to the pump)

Here's a wiring diagram for the early type wipers. It looks like the headlight wipers are not run through a relay. Apparently the return for the wipers is wired directly to the fuse, but the initial sweep is wired to the switch, which you have disconnected. The water pump is also wired to the switch. So I would say that you have a short in the wiring that is sending battery power to one or more of the wiper wires. Look for a short to the yellow/white wires in the connector or the wiring coming out of the connector.
