Camshaft(s) install and alignment help

Post by TuHandy »

Has anyone out there installed both camshafts after a head removal?

I have found out the hard way that the cam sprockets can go on the cam in three different positions. I did mark the sprockets Intake and Exhaust but when I removed them I assumed they could only go back on one way.

I know they sell a cam install and alignment tool, but I was hopeing that someone might have some suggestions. Tool costs $550.00, and I do not want to buy it for a one time use. I would be happy to rent one, but I'm almost 100% sure that the local parts store wont have it.

For anyone who is planning on a repair job the intales removal of the camshafts, DO NOT REMOVE THE CAM SPROCKETS.
