vacuum pump fitting
vacuum pump fitting
I have a 2004 XC 90. There is an air pump on the drivers side in front of the air cleaner box. I believe that it assists with cold weather starts. The plastic nipple that is glued to the pump has broken. The only apparent way to fix is to replace the complete pump. Seems silly to replace a working 240.00 pump for a 5.00 broken fitting. Any one else had this problem? If so, how did you remedy the situation?

I haven't had the problem, but I can suggest a couple things: 1) Reglue it with some 5-minute epoxy; 2) Try to weld the plastic back together - Harbor Freight has a plastic welding kit; 3) Purchase a good used one from a recycler like www.vandsautodismantlers.com or www.erievovo.com.
Good luck and let us know how it turns out.
