Post by sprag »

After I replaced front and rear brake pads on my 2002 S60 with better quailty I have a spongy pedalthat goes to the floor.I did not open bleeders when I replaced pads.I bleed them and still have same problem.

Did you put the springs back in the right place?

The anti-rattle springs on the calipers.

Yes,everything is back in place. The pedal fades to the floor with car running.Feels a little better with car off.Bleed both running and not.Followed the proper bleeding sequence.

And they were fine before you changed the pads?

Then it's quite likely that something is not installed correctly. If it was OK before, it should be OK afterward. I would go back and check over everything to make sure that it's all installed right. See this link for some pictures of what it should look like. https://www.matthewsvolvosite.com/forums ... hp?p=50801

Especially check the springs. Some people who have had the same problem you do didn't put the springs on correctly. When they later installed the springs the right way, the brake pedal came back. Be sure to pry them over the ears on the caliper.

The springs are on correct. The pedal gets a little better when I pump it and feels OK with the car not running.
If it was a spring/assemble problem, the pedal wouldn't change when pumping. It seems more like a hydraulic problem. Are these cars known for master cylinder problems. We checked for a vacuune leak @ the booster and it is quiet.
