volvo S70 what a rocket but why's my oil light flashing?
Very new owner and love my car but if anyone can Help it would be greatly appreciated. The oil light come's on only when it has warmed up and I'm idleing. I've been told the oil pump or the turbo, but no visible oil leaks in the driveway, no smoke, and goes 0-80 really really fast. I'd love to be able to test the oil pressure but can't seem to find where to put the manual gauge. You folks here seem to know what your talking about.

It does now but when I got it in May didn't have this problem. I should also add that it's a 2000 incase that plays a part. I'm using castrol 5-30 at this point, but think it may have started with synthetic.
That seems like a fairly lightweight oil. Where are you located? Are you driving in a warm climate? My experience with these cars is that they can be a little picky when it comes to oil, I don't think you should see a difference between natural and synthetic oil, but you may between weights. I would use a 10-30 minimum and if you are in a warm climate maybe even a 10-40 during the summer.
So, if you change oil and find no change in your oil light, I would then start with the next less expensive item and that would be the oil pressure sending unit. BTW, have you looked at your antifreeze to make sure that there is no oil in it? If there is, then that would indicate a head gasket problem.

Thanks for the info. This is my first volvo and definatelly won't be my last.
This car seems to be alot more picky than the old late model american made's. I'm in georgia and over the past 2-3 months it's been everywhere from 75 to 20 degrees but not lower than that.
