had the plugs changed in my 2000 S80 2.9 the other day, drove to work the day after and it drove fine, tried to leave work the same day and it wouldn't start.

Any check engine lights? If so, go find out what the codes are.

Better question: What plugs did you use and what were they gapped at?

the guy at parts supply suggested I use platinum plugs. I had my uncle change them for me he is a master mechanic. He says its a timing issue. now we just need the manual for the timing belt replacement. any other ideas?

If it worked with original plugs and only thing that has been changed is to the platinum plugs, can't see why timing would be affected. I would suggest getting Volvo plugs and put them in. Only reason to fiddle with timing belt would seem to change it to a new one in case it is at the end of its life....
I did the plugs myself on 1999 S80 T6 and used Volvo plugs and all went well.
