Blower motor

Post by turbotim2 »

Has anyone had the experience of a squealing blower motor in their 850? Mine will start to make a sqealing noise that seems to come and go as I hit bumps in the road (I live in Maine and right now its like a carnival ride to go anywhere). So, if anyone has had this problem, would you mind sharing your experience? Does it mean a new motor? Could I pull it and lubricate it somehow? Also, any idea on how much of pain it is to get them out? Thanks!

If memory serves there was a little talk here about that very problem.

I can't find it right now in a quick search, but go here

and search for 'blower' and you'll get some hits.

Usually worn bearing cause squealing. It isn't so dificullt to take it out. There
are two solutions for this problem, new or used motor. I faund good used motor for $20.
Good luck

My motor has been doing the same thing, but I usually only hear it during cold weather and it comes and goes. Annoying to say the least. So can you lubricate it?

Well here is what I found. I removed the lower panel under the blower motor on the passenger's side and found a small clear plastic duct that goes from the heater box to the holes in the panel was loose and fell out when I removed the panel. I tried to put it back up on the heater box as it has a couple of metal clips that are supposed to hold in place. There is a group of wires that are so friggin tight you can't get the duct back in place without moving it. I had to cut one of the wire ties holding it in place in order to get the duct back even close. I would have removed the glove box but I couldn't get it out.

Anway, it looked as if the duct was rubbing on the panel as I could see a worn place. I put it back together and it hasn't made a sound since. If it comes back I'll let you know. Maybe I just moved something that stopped the motor from squealing.

just replaced my blower motor this morning. It had been making alot of noise and just quit last nite.I did have to remove lower dash cover and a metal cover with air bag sticker on it , and found it much easer to remove glove box. Once I figured out what to remove it took only 45 min. to replace.

I was told to taks the blower out and lubricate it because if the blower still works why buy a new one. " if it aint broke don't fix it" unless your having problems with your climate control that different.

I took mine out twice to lubricate it, but it would just go back to squeeling again. So I replaced it with a used one last year, no problems since.
