V70 2005 Error Code 042

Post by Badjer1 »

2005 V70 65,494 miles I have the "service engine" message in the display with the "check engine" idiot light on. Car is running just fine. This came on within a day of having my oil changed. Went back to the lube center & saw the technician pull up the error code "042" in the display.

Three questions:
1. How do I reset the message display when oil is changed? Sometimes they forget and I hate going back.
2. How do I pull up that error code in the event a real message like this comes on?
3. Where can I find a list of what this and even ALL error codes could mean on this vehicle?

Thanks for the help,
Jer in Cheesehead land

I believe the code is related to transmission oil temperature being approximately +150 degree C for approximately 2 minutes. Try searching for: TCM-0042
