Emissions Codes
Sooo, I told myself that I would join Matthew's Volvo Site IF this repair worked... and it did, very well actually. I was literally about to send my ABS module to Victor when I had to ask myself a question. Is it worth $140 to send off this module and get it repaired if this is all that has to be done? I found out that the only problems come from the chip within the module, so this should work, right? It did, and was really easy. You can get the solder gun from Walmart for like, $30 and some solder. Plug it in and go (after you battle with the box to open it.. mine isn't pretty). Thanks so much for this post because I had JUST bought this car and this post saved me lot's o' $. Have been driving it for about 150 miles now and the lights have still not come on, but it sucks because now my Emission light keeps coming on and the OBD II is telling me the codes P1171, P0300, and P0171. Gotta figure out how to get this fixed cause it is wasting gas by running rich and making it idle really rough.
Sounds like you have a random misfire (P0300) causing other problems with the O2 and Long term Fuel Trim or visa-versa. What year and model is your car?greencupbay wrote:but it sucks because now my Emission light keeps coming on and the OBD II is telling me the codes P1171, P0300, and P0171. Welcome to MVS,
I split this off and moved it to the appropriate forum - I'm glad the ABS fix worked for you as well - there is a point where it will no longer work as the module changed yet again.

I have a 1999 S80 non-turbo. I have been looking into it and wondering if it is either the ETM or the air filter[*] sensor. I have a friend who is a volvo mechanic and he is going to run a diagnostics and see if it is the ETM. Thanks for moving the... thing? idk how to do this forum stuff just yet, but I was wondering where you moved it to so I can keep up to date with it... Thanks for the help guys!
