Volvo v70 2001 stall after warm

Post by Bohmer Robert »

Hi I have been driving my volvo for 3 months. My check engine light came on 2 weeks ago. A week ago car suddenly stall while driving. Now starts when cold and drives fine until warm again. It won't starts ride away but sitting 2 hours will start again and drive until warm again. Service light on and then after minute or 2 off.
Please if any one can help with the idea what it could be wrong with a car please email me [email protected] or replay here.
Many thanks.

Welcome to MVS,

There are a number of things that could cause your problem. Since the check engine light is on you need to start by having the codes read. Most of the chain auto parts stores will read them for you for free (AutoZone is iffy these days, at least in the west).

It is important that you get the code numbers that are read rather than just relying on the clerk that is reading the codes just telling you you need a new O-2 sensor.

If you strike out on finding a place to read the codes for free you can buy an OBD-II scanner at Harbor Freight for around $40.00 which is less than a shop will charge you to read them.

Once you have the codes post them back and we will help you figure it out.

Do you think it could help to erase memory in ECU unit? check this link http://www2.zhome.com:81/ZCMnL/PICS/ecu/ecu.html

I answered your private message in regards to this- the process on erasing the memory in the ECU is not the same for your Volvo- I would try a different scanner and see if the results are the same, after an attempt to erase the ECU code via scan tool.
