Stalling problems 1991 940 GLE

Okay, I love my car but she is having this problem. She stalls quite often at stoplights and such. I can almost always start her up agin but I think I need to address this problem right away. If I break with my L foot and keep the it up to about 800 RPMs with my right foot on the gas, I can usually keep the car from stalling. Also, when I first start the car, I have to give it some gas to get the RPM's up high enough or she will stall before I even get her out of park. I have a freind who says he can do the computer diagnostic thing. However, when he looked at the car he could not find where to hook it up to look at the computer. Any suggestions on all of this?
