According to this diagram, there is only one wire: the high tension wire. There are five wires on the coil: the high tension wire, two yellow/red wires, and two blue ones.

Hmm. Maybe there's a sensor in there that's not shown in that place on the diagram. What color wires do you have on the plug in the car now?keith2006 wrote:well it has a 3 wire plug on it the problem i have is it is a 1993 and they have a 1985-1987 distributor in it and i would like to make this one work without replacing the distributor if possible.

Here is the wiring diagram for an '87. If you compare it to the diagram above, you'll see that the wiring is totally different. The '93 uses a separate power stage for the ignition. My guess is that you can just ignore the wires coming out of the '87 distributor - they are probably for the position sensor that determines when to fire a plug, and your car has a separate sensor for that. Just connect the high tension wire from the coil to the distributor cap and tie the other wires out of the way. Assuming I understand what you have correctly . . .keith2006 wrote:there is a black, yellow, and green but i just don't know which one goes where?

Base line problem is going to be that a 93 240 uses the flywheel for an engine speed sensor, not the distributor. The earlier motor uses the distributor for a rpm signal. They are not interchangeable. You will need to match the wire harness to the engine or match the engine to the wire harness. Either may be a pain in the butt.
well that's strange i just bought a Haynes repair guide and it shows 3 wires going to both types the 1985-1987 and the 1988-1993 but it didn't show which color went where? I hate wiring idk what i got myself into i guess that's why i got it cheep. LOL I know i can get it going but i am sure it wont be fun!

Do you have a plug in the car wiring that's not connected to anything?keith2006 wrote:well that's strange i just bought a Haynes repair guide and it shows 3 wires going to both types the 1985-1987 and the 1988-1993 but it didn't show which color went where?
