My 1993 240 has 175,000+ miles on it. During the past week I replaced the rear main seal. I reinstalled the automatic transmission this weekend.
The tranny mount was in pieces so I ordered a new one from IPD earlier in the week. It arrived yesterday just in time to be installed.
The problem is that I had to use a pry bar on the tail shaft of the tranny to get the tranny crossmember to align with the holes in the side rails. I finally got the bolts in but the attached photo shows the rubber mount in its present condition. I am sure this new mount will fail like the old one if I don't do something prior to hitting the road.
Does anyone have an idea how I can relieve the tension on the mount so that it will sit correctly?
UPDATE: I figured it out. I guess I was paranoid thinking that somehow there was a huge problem. Upon further inspection, I had installed it in a twist. I loosened it and let it relax then retightend and it was fine. Sorry about that.
Thanks,
Bill
