XC70 2001 radio error

Post by mhartwig »

Just bought this car and the cd player is giving me an error and will not accept any cds. I have tried to insert a cleaning disc as I have read that this may be due to a dirty lens and it did not work. Does anyone have any other ideas?

Welcome to MVS.
I hate to say it but when this begins to happen, usually a replacement is the only real solution.

How do you remove the radio in this car? We previously had a '98 V70 and removing that radio was very straight forward. I can not figure out how to get the stereo out of this car.

You need either a bone tool (hard plastic knife like tool) or you can use a butter knife but I would put some tape around it to not scratch any surfaces- first thing to do, if yours has a pen holder at the very bottom of the console, you'll need to pry it out...then work up...there are screws from there that you take out until you reach the radio... make sure your battery is disconnected and when you reattach the negative cable, you put your key in ignition position II. Hope you figure it out.
